Meet Cheryl Caulfield
Cheryl Caulfield is a wife, public school mom of two sons, and the Wake County School Board District 1 Representative. She was elected in 2022 after campaigning for school safety, teacher support, parental rights, and transparency. As a public school and PTA mom engaged in her community, Cheryl noticed the struggles of children, parents, and teachers caused by ineffective government and policies, and decided to run for the school board. She is now running for State Senate District 18 to make an impact on education and other important issues for all of North Carolina as a representative for Wake and Granville Counties.

Family & Community

When Cheryl and her husband first moved to Wake Forest two decades ago, she focused more on property management, which allowed her to dedicate her time to raising her two active boys. Over the years, she has dedicated her time advocating for our community and education. As an active community volunteer, she has spent many hours working with students, teachers, the PTA, youth sports teams, and clubs. She also volunteered for Every Tray Counts, a program that taught children about composting and eco-friendly lunches.
For over 16 years, she had worked as a Senior Mortgage Underwriter, trained processors, and ratified final approvals on loans over $1 million. She also established a new start-up branch and reformed another to run more efficiently with new policies and procedures. Cheryl earned her degree in Interior Design and continued on to study Business Management, which has provided her background to serve on the school board.
As a school board member, she routinely attends community meetings advocating for mental health and vaping/drug crisis, local school plays and activities, graduations, town events, mayor meetings, and other events in the community. She also started an N.C. School Board Coalition with several other county representatives to collaborate for better outcomes for our students. As part of the work with the Coalition spent many hours advocating for teacher pay, calendar laws, standards, removing restrictive caps, master and longevity pay, and transparency challenges with legislators. Thankful for the collaboration with state leaders that has led to bills in the legislature.
LEADING WITH INTEGRITY. SERVING WITH PURPOSE.
